David Casey graduated with an Honours degree in Geology from the University of Sydney in 1991 and in the same year joined specialist coal seam gas (coalbed methane) company in Situ (Australia) Pty Ltd. In 1995, he formed his own unconventional energy consultancy business which saw him test and identify some of the largest and most productive CSG fields in Australia. David has over 25 years' international experience in the management and evaluation of all aspects of both conventional and unconventional oil and gas exploration and appraisal, from initial reservoir characterisation and fairway identification through to drilling, testing and production operations. Prior to Petrel Energy (before merging with Warrego) where as Managing Director he oversaw the first ever discovery of hydrocarbons in Uruguay, David’s last executive role was Managing Director of Eastern Star Gas Limited, which he and his team grew from modest beginnings to being the subject of a $924m takeover by Santos Limited valuing the Narrabri Project at $1.42b.
Prior to that from 2001 to 2005 David was executive director and chief operating officer at Molopo Energy where he was responsible for developing a very successful unconventional energy portfolio with assets in Australia, the US, Canada, China and South Africa.
David is a results driven, experienced MD/CEO with a proven track record of leading ASX listed energy companies engaged in acquisition, exploration, evaluation and development of Australian and international onshore oil and gas projects. Managing all phases of the oil & gas business including project development, operational challenges, mergers & acquisitions, financing and equity capital raising for both listed and non-listed companies.
